Advocate and Mental Health Engagement Coordinator

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Who We Are

The Nebraska Alliance is a growing nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing Nebraska’s response to child abuse and neglect through the CAC model. We serve as the nationally accredited state chapter and membership organization for Child Advocacy Centers in Nebraska (CAC).

We strengthen the CAC model approach by providing training, technical assistance, and capacity-building support; fostering statewide partnerships; and leading advocacy efforts that advance coordinated, trauma-informed responses for children and families.

How we work matters as much as what we do. Our organization is grounded in three core values:

  • Collaboration: We work in partnership with diverse people, organizations, and systems to make a difference for children and families.

  • Commitment: We care deeply about this work and consistently go above and beyond to support our partners and the communities they serve.

  • Leadership: We ask critical questions, take on complex statewide initiatives, and work collaboratively to find solutions that move systems forward.

This role is designed for a collaborative professional who is passionate about strengthening advocacy support and improving access to mental health services for children and families impacted by abuse. The ideal candidate excels at building relationships, coordinating projects, and supporting professionals across a statewide network. They are comfortable working with diverse stakeholders, facilitating communication, and helping move initiatives from planning to implementation. Success in this position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, a commitment to trauma-informed practice, and the ability to support both child advocacy center advocates and mental health professionals in achieving shared goals.

Position Summary

The Advocate and Mental Health Engagement Coordinator strengthens Nebraska's Child Advocacy Center (CAC) advocate and mental health infrastructure through statewide collaboration, capacity building, and network support. Working closely with CAC advocates, mental health professionals, and community partners, this role promotes effective advocacy practices across Nebraska's accredited CAC network and helps improve access to quality mental health services for children and families.

Serving as a key resource for CAC advocates statewide, the position facilitates peer learning opportunities, supports the implementation of advocacy initiatives such as AimWell, and promotes the sharing of resources, best practices, and innovative approaches across the network. Additional responsibilities include leading mental health workforce initiatives, including CE-CERT (Components for Enhancing Clinician Experience and Reducing Trauma) and reflective supervision efforts, while supporting projects designed to expand access to care. In partnership with the NECAC programming team and external stakeholders, the Advocate and Mental Health Engagement Coordinator provides technical assistance, project management, and ongoing support to strengthen services, enhance workforce well-being, and improve outcomes for children and families affected by abuse and trauma.

How You’ll Contribute

Statewide Advocate and Mental Health Coordination

  • Serve as a key point of coordination for CAC advocates by fostering peer learning, sharing promising practices, and supporting the continued advancement of advocacy services across the network.

  • Coordinate statewide CAC advocate and mental health projects that strengthen services for children and families served by Nebraska's CACs such as AimWell, CE-CERT, and Reflective Practice.

  • Facilitate communication, collaboration, and resource-sharing among CAC advocates, mental health linkage providers, and community partners to improve access to care.

  • Provide technical assistance and project coordination that helps align efforts and strengthen the delivery of trauma-informed advocacy and mental health services statewide.

Capacity Building & Technical Assistance

  • Provide results-based technical assistance to CACs to strengthen the work of CAC advocates and mental health service delivery.

  • Support CACs in implementing evidence-informed advocacy and mental health practices.

  • Develop and share tools, resources, and strategies that improve program quality and outcomes.

  • Help CACs identify and address barriers to care and strengthen access to services for children and families.

  • Create and maintain professional learning content within the Nebraska Alliance Training Network (LMS) and other training platforms.

  • Partner with the NECAC programming team to deliver coordinated support that advances network-wide goals.

Collaboration & Network Engagement

  • Foster strong relationships with CACs, CAC advocates, mental health staff and linkage providers, and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Engage network in shared problem-solving and coordinated approaches to service delivery.

  • Facilitate communication, information sharing, and peer learning across the CAC network.

  • Promote a collaborative, statewide approach that enhances outcomes for children and families affected by abuse and trauma.

Why This Role Matters

The CAC field increasingly recognizes that access to high-quality and effective CAC advocacy and mental health care depends on strong systems, a resilient workforce, and coordinated partnerships, not isolated programs or services. This position helps Nebraska advance that vision by aligning CAC advocate and mental health efforts across CACs and partner systems, while building the capacity needed to meet the evolving needs of children and families. By engaging and supporting CACs in workforce wellness, expanding access to care, and promoting the consistent implementation of best practices, this role helps ensure the delivery of sustainable, high-quality services to children and families impacted by abuse and trauma across Nebraska.
